Since our co-founding at the end of 1994 by Vernon Huang Md. and Robert Bruce, Tactile Systems has been committed to excellence in portable digital systems. Both our Co-Founders expertise with the Newton line of devices started in August '93 when they were released to the general public. Both founders degrees in Biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University pushed the company toward providing medical solutions. Dr. Huang's medical expertise gave our company a unique edge in creating solutions which combined solid engineering and a physicians personal touch. Our presence in the Newton community, along with our reputation for high quality programming, quickly brought other non-medical opportunities to our door. Apple Computer awarded Tactile with the Premiere Newton Systems Integrators award in 1996 for our work on our 'RoutePad' system. Shortly thereafter we began work on our first international project; 'Conquas' is now in use in Singapore by their governments' construction building authority. The 'EstiMATE' project was one of the Tactile's first joint-ventures with another company. This construction cost estimation package was designed and marketed by PDA Construction while Tactile provided the engineering and support. ©1997 Tactile Systems, Inc.
